FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU senior middle blocker Kourtney Edwards will head to the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. on Friday to take part in a three-day tryout for the National Team.

"This is an opportunity of a lifetime," said Edwards. "I experienced this last year, but now I feel like I am more prepared to go out there and do well. This past season at TCU gave me a lot of experience that will help me a lot. I am nervous and excited all at the same time. It'll be awesome to play with and against some of the top players in the country."

While in Colorado Springs, Edwards will take part in four tryouts of the course of the three days. One tryout will be held on Friday, two on Saturday and wraps up with one on Sunday.

"Being part of the USA team in anything is exciting," said head coach Prentice Lewis. "We are pleased to send such a decorated TCU athlete to the tryouts. We wish her luck!"

Edwards wrapped up a spectacular four-year career at TCU, leaving the program as the all-time blocks leader with 525 for an average of 1.10 per set. Her career .338 attack percentage also ranks first all-time.

In her final campaign at TCU, Edwards averaged 3.24 kills per set and led the league with a .373 attack percentage, which ranks 18th nationally. For the third straight season, she paced the team in blocks with 127 total blocks for an average of 1.03 per set. Edwards was named All-Mountain West Conference and earned MWC Player of the Week honors five times. She earned AVCA All-West Region honors as well.
