Volleyball Announces 2015 Schedule
May 1, 2015
FORT WORTH, Texas - A total of 17 matches against top RPI teams, 11 home matches and 11 matches against 2014 NCAA tournament teams highlight the 2015 TCU women's volleyball schedule, as announced by director of volleyball Jill Kramer on Friday.
"We are really excited to release the 2015 Horned Frog volleyball schedule and even more excited to get in the gym with our complete 2015 squad in August," Kramer said. "I think we have put together a good mix of competition in the preseason to challenge our team and at the same time prepare us for a very strong Big 12 Conference.
"We have a very limited amount of home matches this season, so each and every match becomes more important for us to pack the Rickel. We have a very unique venue at the Rickel in that our fans can be very close to the action. Horned Frog volleyball has always been exciting to watch and this year will be no different. We will run a fast tempo offensively, which makes the game even more fun for fans to watch."
To open the program's first season under the direction of Kramer, TCU will host Abilene Christian, Texas State and UTEP in a tournament inside the Rickel on Aug. 28-29. This will mark the first time the team has opened the season at home since 2011. The Frogs will take on Wildcats and Bobcats on Friday, before concluding the tournament with the Miners on Saturday.
The month of September will feature three straight tournaments on the road for TCU, as the team will head to San Diego, Calif., for a tournament at San Diego State and San Diego on Sept. 4-5. Besides the two host schools, the Frogs will also face Ivy League opponent Dartmouth. The next weekend has TCU traveling to New Orleans, La., as the Frogs will take on Incarnate Word, Nicholls State and host Tulane in the Tulane Invitational on Sept. 11-12.
Tournament action will conclude with a short trip across the Metroplex to SMU on Sept. 18-19. This will be the first match-up against the Mustangs since 2012, while the Frogs will also face off with ACC foe Clemson and UTSA.
Big 12 action will begin on the road, as a midweek matchup with Texas is set for Wednesday, Sept. 23, before the team returns to the Rickel to open league play at home with Kansas on Saturday, Sept. 26.
A quick trip to West Virginia is schedule for Wednesday, Sept. 30 and then the team will bring it back home to face with Kansas State (Oct. 3) and Oklahoma (Oct. 7). TCU will then travel to Lubbock for a match with Texas Tech on Oct. 10, before receiving their first bye date of the season.
The Frogs return to action with a match against Iowa State (Oct. 17) in Ames, Iowa and then the team will stay home for a two-match home stand as TCU welcomes Baylor (Oct. 21) and Texas (Oct. 28). The team will wrap up the month of October by traveling to Manhattan, Kan., to take on Kansas State on Saturday, Oct. 31.
November opens with the team's third bye of the league schedule and then a Saturday match-up at the Rickel against Iowa State is set for Nov. 7. Back-to-back road tilts against Baylor (Nov. 11) and Kansas (Nov. 14) are scheduled, while the Red Raiders of Texas Tech will travel to Fort Worth for a match on Nov. 18.
One final road trip up to Norman to face Oklahoma on Saturday, Nov. 21 is scheduled and then the team will return home one final time for Senior Day, as the Frogs are set to take on West Virginia on Saturday, Nov. 28.
