Volleyball Italian Tour: Day 1 in Milan

May 27, 2014

The TCU volleyball team has arrived for their 10 day adventure in Italy! A different member of the team will share a blog about the journey daily as the team experiences the Italian culture and competes against some of the top teams in the country. First up is sophomore Ashley Smith, who shares about the journey to get here from DFW to New York and finally to Milan.

The day has finally arrived! We are actually in Italy. We got up pretty early to catch our flight to New York which was around three hours. From there we flew to Milan, which was much more of a voyage, lasting around nine hours. The plane was huge being seven seats wide and forty-two rows long. We were served both dinner as well as breakfast on the plane.

When we arrived in Italy, it was about two in the morning Texas time. It was crazy to watch the sun set in New York and then see it rise in a different hemisphere here in Milan. It's a rainy day here, which we we were told by our guide is typical for the city. We have practice in about an hour and are all very excited to see our first Italian volleyball gym. After we are headed to the City Center in Milan for some lunch, touring, and sightseeing. We are all so anxious to see the culture and beauty of Italy, as well play high caliber volleyball and we are even more excited to actually be abroad. Go Frogs!!!
