Volleyball Italian Tour: Day 2 in Milan
May 27, 2014
The TCU volleyball team has arrived for their 10 day adventure in Italy! A different member of the team will share a blog about the journey daily as the team experiences the Italian culture and competes against some of the top teams in the country. For day two, sophomore Alexia Heist tells us all about the day and the team's first match against an Italian team.
Hello from Milano!!
We had a great day today! We woke up and had an Italian breakfast, which consisted of bread, croissants, sausage, Italian cereal, and rice cakes with Nutella. We then caught train 14 to the city center to sightsee! We were able to go shopping, tour the cathedral at Duomo di Milan, visit a castle that was a couple of blocks from the city center and we ate lunch at a cute little restaurant around there too!
We went back to the hotel and had an hour and a half to rest before our match against Club Italia. It was such a great experience to play an Italian national team! It was fun to play against a team that plays a different style of volleyball than we do. We did a lot of good things during the match and we made adjustments that allowed us to compete with them. We were so fortunate to have a fan at the match today as well. Thank you to Max Dahlgren for taking time out of his travels to come see us play!
After the match, we visited with the girls on Club Italia! It was hard to talk to them because they only speak Italian, and the only Italian that we know is Ciao, Grazie, and Prego.
My favorite parts about today were shopping in Milan, taking pictures, eating pesto pasta (it was amazing!!), walking through the Duomo and of course playing against the national team! Tomorrow we leave to Venice to play a match! We are all so excited to see what the rest of this Italian journey has in store for us!
