Volleyball Announces 2014 Slate

FORT WORTH, Texas - A total of 19 home matches, six opponents who competed in the 2013 NCAA championships, a match against the defending national champion and five first-time opponents highlight the 2014 TCU women's volleyball schedule, as announced by head coach Prentice Lewis on Wednesday.
One of the top attendance leaders in the nation with seven sold out matches last fall, the Horned Frogs will host 17 home matches plus the Purple and White Scrimmage and Alumni Match in the University Recreation Center. TCU will also host two home tournaments in the month of September before opening Big 12 play.
For the third year in a row, TCU will kick off the 2014 campaign on the road with the Penn State Classic in State College, Pa. The Frogs open the season with the defending national champion and first-time opponent Nittany Lions on Aug. 29 and will conclude action at the tournament with William & Mary and Iona on Aug. 30.
The month of September starts off with a return to the URC, as the team opens their home slate with the TCU Nike Invitational on Sept. 5-6. The Frogs will faceoff against Grambling and Miami (Fla.) on Friday, before taking on Prairie View A&M and UALR on Saturday. Tournament play on the road ends the next week with a trip to South Bend, Ind., for the Shamrock Invitational to face Notre Dame, Northern Iowa and Northeastern on Sept. 12-13.
A midweek match-up with Abilene Christian on Sept. 16 is the start of four straight home matches, as TCU wraps up tournament play with the TCU Molten Invitational on Sept. 19-20. The Frogs will square off with Sam Houston State on Friday, before taking on UAPB and High Point on Saturday.
TCU begins Big 12 Conference competition with a midweek matchup with Texas Tech on Wednesday, Sept. 24 and will return to their home court to take on Iowa State in the Big 12 home opener on Saturday, Sept. 27.
A trip to Norman, Okla., will open the month of October for the Frogs, as they face the Sooners on Oct. 1, before coming back to the URC for a tilt with Baylor on Oct. 4. A quick trip to West Virginia is scheduled for Oct. 11 and a home match against Kansas State is set for Oct. 15.
Back-to-back road tilts at Kansas (Oct. 18) and Texas (Oct. 22) are in place, before TCU will begin a four-match home stand at the URC. The Frogs will first welcome Zheijiang from China for a match on Oct. 24 and then will round out October with West Virginia on Oct. 29.
The Jayhawks of Kansas will travel to Fort Worth for a match on Nov. 1, with the home stand ending with Oklahoma on Nov. 5. A three-match road swing will take the Frogs to North Texas on Nov. 9 and then onto Waco to face Baylor on Nov. 12 and Ames, Iowa to square off with Iowa State on Nov. 15.
Texas Tech will travel to the URC for a match on Nov. 19 and then the final conference road match will take place at Kansas State on Nov. 22. TCU will cap off the 2014 season with senior night, the home finale and the final conference match by facing off with Texas on Nov. 26. The final regular season match will take place on the road, as the Frogs travel to UTEP for a matchup on Nov. 29.
