Big 12 Preseason Poll Released

Aug. 8, 2016

FORT WORTH, Texas -- For the first time in program history, the TCU volleyball team was selected to finish fourth in the preseason Big 12 Conference poll as announced by the conference office.

The Horned Frogs received 41 votes in the poll and it is the highest preseason ranking for the team since they joined the conference in 2012 after earning a No. 7 spot the past three seasons.

Texas was the unanimous preseason No. 1 for the fifth consecutive years. Overall, the Longhorns have earned the preseason No. 1 spot on nine occasions (1996, 2008-09, 2011-16) and have gone on to claim the crown in seven of those seasons. Joining Texas in last year's national semifinals, Kansas, sits in second in the preseason poll, seven points behind the Longhorns.

With a third-place spot in this year's poll, Iowa State earns a top three ranking for the eighth straight season. After TCU, Oklahoma and Kansas State sit at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively, while Baylor, Texas Tech and West Virginia round out the seventh through ninth spots.

TCU will kick-off the season with the Purple & White Scrimmage that will be held on Aug. 20 at 5 p.m., in the Rickel. The team will then open the season at home for the second straight year by hosting North Carolina State, Arkansas State and Boise State from Aug. 26-28.

Season tickets for the TCU volleyball season are on sale now. Adult season tickets are $75, youth season tickets are $50 and a Family 4-pack of season tickets can be purchased for $200. Single game tickets can be bought starting Monday, August 15, with fans able to purchase adult tickets for $10, youth tickets for $5 and $3 tickets for groups of 20 or more.
