IRVING, Texas – TCU junior Yvonne Igodan has been named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Igodan earned MVP honors of the TCU Nike Invitational over the weekend, helping the Horned Frogs to wins over SMU, Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Army. In three matches, Igodan had 55 kills with a .469 hitting percentage.
Against Army in the tournament finale, Igodan tallied a career-best 24 kills, including the last four of the match with TCU trailing 22-21 in the final set. She led the Frogs in kills in all three matches with 16 against SMU and 15 against Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
The middle blocker from Houston leads the Big in hitting percentage at .458. Through six matches, Igodan has tallied 85 kills with just 14 errors on 155 total attacks. She is second in the Big 12 in kills per set (4.25) and points per set (4.80).
In both tournaments this season, Igodan has been named to the All-Tournament Team. She also picked up the accolade two weekends ago at the Belmont Invitational.
The weekly honor is the first of Igodan’s TCU career in the Mountain West or Big 12. She represents the first TCU athlete to earn a weekly conference nod since TCU began competition in the Big 12.
