TCU Road Trips to New Orleans

FORT WORTH, Texas - For the second straight weekend, the TCU volleyball team will hit the road by heading to New Orleans, La., for the Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Classic hosted by Tulane at the Devlin Fieldhouse on Sept. 11-12.

The Horned Frogs (5-1) will open the tournament by facing Incarnate Word (2-4) on Friday at 4:30 p.m., before taking on Nicholls State (3-3) and the host Green Waves (1-3) on Saturday at 2 p.m., and 7 p.m., respectively.

-The 2015 season marks the 20th season in the history of the TCU Volleyball program

-TCU will stick with the 6-2 offense, as Alexia Heist is joined by transfer Kaylee Smith in guiding the offense this season
-With 1,753 assists in her career, Heist sits at No. 6 in the TCU career record books and could move into the No. 5 spot by totaling 537 assists this season.
-Sutton Sunstrum will be anchoring the back row from the libero position, as she totaled 66 digs this season and 3.67 digs per set
-Sunstrum is one of the three seniors on the team and is closing in on 1,000 digs with 978 in her career
-TCU is nationally ranked in the top-20 in a pair of statistics - blocks per set (9th - 3.17) and hitting percentage (18th - 0.284)
-McGuire sits at No. 3 nationally and leads the Big 12 with 1.83 blocks per set

Series History
Incarnate Word: This will be the first meeting between the two programs.

Nicholls State: TCU will face the Colonels for only the second time in program history when they square off this weekend. The Frogs won the only previous meeting in 2002 at the Arkansas State Classic in Jonesboro, Ark. This will be the second time that the teams have faced off on neutral ground.

First Meeting: 8/31/02 - TCU wins 3-1 (30-25, 30-19, 29-31, 30-17)

Tulane: TCU will face former Conference USA foe Tulane for the first time since 2004 - the Frogs last season in the conference. The Green Waves hold the advantage in the series record, with Tulane winning three of the five meetings. In the previous meeting, TCU took the win in Fort Worth after Tulane won the previous three meetings. This will be the third time the teams have faced off in New Orleans, with the Green Wave holding a 2-0 advantage.
