FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU volleyball team will host North Texas in its home opener on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m., with the match slated to be televised live on FOX Sports Southwest.

The Frogs (3-3, 0-0 Big 12) enter the match after going 1-2 last weekend in Chicago and Milwaukee. TCU picked up a win last Thursday night with a 3-1 victory over UIC, before falling to then-No. 3 USC and Marquette at the Marquette Challenge on Friday and Saturday.

Yvonne Igodan garnered her second All-Tournament honor in a row after being named to the Marquette Challenge All-Tournament team. The Houston, Texas native had a .833 hitting percentage against the Flames, while leading the team with 11 kills in the match against the Golden Eagles.

TCU holds a 7-1 record against the Mean Green, with the first meeting between the teams dating back to 1997. Coach Prentice Lewis is 3-1 against North Texas, with the only loss coming in her first season in 2002.

Breaking down the opponent - North Texas

-The Mean Green are 5-3 on the season after going 3-1 at the North Texas Invitational.

-North Texas swept Prarie View A&M and Northwestern State, while also defeating Texas State in four.

-The only losses this season for the Mean Green came at the hands of Loyola Marymount, then-No.12 UCLA and Utah.

-C-USA Preason Volleyball Team selections Courtney Windham and Carnae Dillard were named to the all-tournament team last weekend.

-Both players posted 37 kills a piece at the tournament, while Windham recorded 24 total blocks and Dillard finished with 26 digs

-Windham's 12 block assists against Texas State tied a single match school record and also was good for a tie at 10th all time in the C-USA record books.

-Shelby Tamura leads the defensive effort for the Mean Green and leads the team with 98 digs and 3.77 digs per set.

-Amy Henard guides the North Texas offense with 293 assists over the first eight game for an average of 10.85 assists per set.


Series Notes

-This is the ninth meeting between the two teams as TCU holds a 7-1 advantage in the series. Under coach Prentice Lewis, the Frogs are 3-1 against North Texas with the only loss coming on Sept. 17, 2002 in Lewis' first year.

TV darlings

-This is the first of five matches where TCU will appear on the FOX Broadcasting channel this season.

-The Frogs' match with Stephen F. Austin on Friday, Sept. 13 at noon will be televised on FOX Sports Southwest, while Big 12 matches against Texas (Sept. 25), West Virginia (Oct. 2) and Oklahoma (Oct. 23) will also get the television coverage.
 

UIC/Marquette challenge recap

-The Horned Frogs come into this match with an overall record of 3-3 after going 1-2 this past weekend in Chicago and Milwakee.

-TCU defeated UIC 3-1, before dropping both of their matches at the Marquette Challenge to then-No. 3 USC and Marquette in four sets.

-In the match agains the Trojans, TCU were on the brink of forcing a fifth set and took a set from a top-5 ranked opponent for the first time since 2005 when the Frogs found victory against then-No. 5 Minnesota.

-Yvonne Igodan was named to the All-Tournament team at Marquette after posting 28 kills, 2.33 kills per set, eight digs and six blocks.

-Freshman Ashley Smith posted double-digit kills in all three matches this past weekend, while also recording her first career double-double against USC by finishing with a career-high 17 kills and 19 digs.

-Mattie Burleson tied her career-high in blocks by finishing the UIC match with 10 total blocks and was the second TCU player in notch double-digit blocks this season.
