FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU volleyball team will host the TCU Nike/Molten Invitational on Sept. 13-14 at the University Rec Center.

The tournament will feature five teams, with 10 matches to be played over the next two days. The Frogs will first take on Stephen F. Austin at noon on Friday with the match set to be televised live on FOX Sports Southwest. TCU will finish out the first day by playing Houston at 7:30 p.m., before taking on Grambling State and Ole Miss at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively, on Saturday.

TCU is coming off a sweep of North Texas on Wednesday night in the team's home season opener. Ashley Smith had her fourth double-digit kill match in a row after posting 12 kills against the Mean Green. Stephanie Holland chipped in nine kills for TCU and hit a team-high .389 hitting percentage to go along with three blocks. Shane Peters had her first start in the libero jersey and finished with 16 digs.

The Frogs have an 11-11 record against the weekend competition, including a 5-0 record against Grambling State. The Ladyjackets and TCU are tied at 3-3 in the series, while Houston leads the series 7-3 and Ole Miss has a 1-0 advantage.
 

BREAKING DOWN THE OPPONENT - STEPHEN F. AUSTIN

-The Ladyjackets enter the match with a 6-2 record after picking up a 3-2 win over Louisiana Tech on Tuesday night.

-Stephen F. Austin was picked to finish tied for this in the preseason Southland Conference poll.

-Under the direction of 26-year veteran Debbie Humphreys, the Ladyjackets have competed in five five-set thrillers and are 3-2 in those matches.

-Preseason All-SLC selection Jill Ivy leads teh team with 111 kills and 3.36 kills per set.

-Ivy has also chipped in 32 digs to go along with 26 total blocks for the season.

-Libero OJ Olson was named the SLC Defensive Player of the Week after averaging 4.73 digs per set.

-Olson leads the team with 158 digs and 4.65 digs per set on the season.

-This is the seventh meeting between the two teams as series is tied at 3-3. Under coach Prentice Lewis, the Frogs have only faced the Ladyjackets once in Lewis' first season.

BREAKING DOWN THE OPPONENT - HOUSTON

-The Cougars enter the tournament with only one loss on their slate and are riding a four-match winning streak.

-In the winning streak, Houston started with a 3-2 win over Texas Southern, before traveling to Lafayette, La. where the Cougars posted wins over Alcorn State, Nicholls State and Louisana-Lafayette

-Sarita Mikals was named to the All-Tournament team last weekend and leads the team with 88 kills, and 3.67 kills per set.

-Cortney Warren is also averaging over 3.00 kills per set with 3.43 and has recorded 79 kills on the season.

-Natalie Keck has recorded 100 digs so far this season and sits at 4.00 digs per set.

-This is the 11th meeting between the two teams as Houston leads the series 7-3. Under coach Prentice Lewis, the Frogs are 2-5 with the last meeting coming in 2010.

BREAKING DOWN THE OPPONENT - OLE MISS

-The Rebels hae a 4-2 record this season and are coming off a 2-1 performace at the Magnolia Invitational.

-Nakeyta Clair and Melanie Crow were named to the All-Tournament team, as Clair tied a single-match program record with nine block assists vs. Arkansas State while Crow finished the tournament with 24 kills and a team-high .364 hitting percentage.

-Marie-Pierre Bakim leads the Rebels with 56 kills and is second on the team with 56 digs.

-Aubrey Edie and Skylar Johnson have split the setting duties this season, with both players averagin over 8.00 assists per set.

-Kristen Brashear roams the back court for Ole Miss and has notched 109 digs for the season and 4.54 digs per set.

-This is only the second meeting between the two teams as Ole Miss won the only other matchup.
