TCU MATCH NOTES // TEXAS TECH MATCH NOTES

FORT WORTH - TCU's women's volleyball team puts a three-match winning streak on the line when it hosts Texas Tech on Wednesday evening in its Big 12 home opener. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m at the TCU University Rec Center.

The Horned Frogs are 12-2 overall and 1-0 in the Big 12. Texas Tech is 11-5 and 0-1. TCU trailed 0-2 in its Big 12 debut at West Virginia, but was able to storm back for a 3-2 win. The Red Raiders were swept by Kansas last Saturday.

TCU is 6-1 in home matches this season, with its only loss coming to No. 3-ranked USC, when two of the three sets went past 25 points. Texas Tech is 2-2 on the year in true road matches.

Junior Yvonne Igodan has led the Frogs offensively, racking up 3.70 kills per set, while posting a .358 attack percentage. She is third in the league in kills and fourth in attack percentage. Senior Megan Munce leads the Big 12 at 0.57 aces per set.

LAST TIME OUT: TCU 3, WEST VIRGINIA 2
TCU won for just the ninth time under head coach Prentice Lewis when trailing 0-2 last Saturday at West Virginia, coming back to steal a 3-2 win (24-26, 20-25, 25-16, 26-24, 15-2). The Horned Frogs improved to 12-2 on the year and 1-0 in the Big 12.

Stephanie Holland tied a career-high with 15 kills, while Megan Munce picked up her team-leading seventh double-double of the year (40 assists, 15 digs). The Frogs held a 58-54 edge in kills and a distinct advantage on the defensive end, grabbing 78 digs to WVU's 69. TCU also had more aces (9-7) than the Mountaineers.

TCU ALL-TIME VERSUS TEXAS TECH
Wednesday's meeting will be the sixth all-time between the Horned Frogs and the Red Raiders. It also marks the first time since 2000-2001 that the two schools have met in consecutive seasons.

*Texas Tech won the first three meetings of the series (1999, 2000, 2001), with each of those matchups being 3-0 wins.
*TCU has won the last two matchups in the series, including a 3-1 win a year ago in Fort Worth. The other win came in Lubbock in 2008.
*The Horned Frogs are 1-1 against Texas Tech in Fort Worth.

2011 REWIND: TCU 3, TEXAS TECH 1
The TCU volleyball team got the season started on the right foot in front of a rowdy crowd at the University Rec Center Friday night with a 3-1 (25-22, 25-23, 18-25, 25-22) win over Texas Tech. 1,706 fans packed the gym, making it the second-largest crowd in school history.

Freshman Stephanie Holland led the Horned Frog attack with 14 kills on 29 swings. Kristen Hester pitched in with 11 kills and added two blocks and two digs to her stat line. Megan Munce collected her 14th career double-double with 34 assists and 11 digs. She served up two aces to give her 100 for her career.

Sloane Sunstrum led all servers with three aces, while contributing seven kills and 13 digs. Jordan Raines pumped in eight kills and tallied 14 digs. Yvonne Igodan led the Frogs with six blocks (two solo, four assist) and picked up five kills. Sarah Joeckel led all defensive players with 21 digs, the first 20-dig match of her career.

TCU'S BIG 12 HOME OPENER
When TCU and Texas Tech square off at 6:30 on Wednesday, it will mark the first home competition for TCU as a member of the Big 12. TCU volleyball and football have both competed in Big 12 events, but both were on the road.

*TCU volleyball also had the first Big 12 weekly honor as a conference member when Yvonne Igodan was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 4.
*Under Prentice Lewis, the Horned Frogs are 73-77 all-time in conference matches. Earlier this season, TCU brought its all-time program record to above .500 for the first time.

COMING FROM BEHIND TO GO THE DISTANCE
TCU's win at West Virginia marked just the ninth time under head coach Prentice Lewis that the Horned Frogs had dug themselves out of an 0-2 hole.

*With the win, TCU is now 9-84 all-time under Lewis when dropping both of the first two sets.
*TCU won for the first time this season when down 0-2, as it also trailed Northern Colorado and USC by the same mark.
*With Lewis as head coach, TCU is 37-21 in five-set matches.
