TCU returns for the 2014 season after posting a winning record for the ninth time in the last 12 years under head coach Prentice Lewis in 2013.

Under the tenure of Lewis, TCU has finished with a .500 record in nonconference play every year since 2002 and has garnered at least one preseason tournament title.

Ashley Smith is riding MVP honors from the TCU Molten Invitational and now leads the team with 147 kills and 3.00 kills per set. Smith has led the team with double-digit kills in seven matches and also has 113 digs on the season and 20 total blocks.

Stephanie Holland is following close behind and is helping shoulder the offensive load. Holland has 136 kills on the season, 2.62 kills per set and is shutting down at the net with 29 total blocks, which is third on the team.

Iowa State (7-3, 0-0 Big 12) is coming into Big 12 play with a two-match winning streak under its belts after defeating in-state rivals Iowa (3-0) and Northern Iowa (3-2) this past week.

The Cyclones are receiving votes in the AVCA weekly poll and have only dropped three matches this season, with all three loss coming against nationally ranked opponents.

Defense is key to Iowa State as they have produced the last six Big 12 Libero of the Year honorees, as Caitlin Nolan is ranked No. 1 in the Big 12 and No. 18 nationally with 5.44 digs per set. Nolan is also No. 9 in the conference with 0.32 service aces per set and leads the team with 11 aces.
