FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU volleyball team hits the road for its first Big 12 road trip, by traveling to Lawrence, Kan., to take on Kansas on Sat., Sept. 28 at 1 p.m. The match will air live on Metro Sports and ESPN 3.

The Horned Frogs (11-4, 0-1 Big 12) opened the Big 12 with defending national champion and No. 5 Texas on Wednesday with a 3-0 loss, while the Jayhawks (10-3, 0-0 Big 12) are opening conference play for the first time at home in five season. Kansas played an exhibition match Wednesday night against the U-23 Italian National Team.

Preseason All-Big 12 unanimous selection Yvonne Igodan continues to lead the Frogs offensively with 143 kills, including a team-high eight against the Longhorns. Igodan is ranked No. 2 in the Big 12 with a .371 hitting percentage and spends time at outside hitter and middle blocker for TCU. Ashley Smith sat out Wednesday's match with an injury, but is still second on the team with 136 kills.

Kansas enters the match on a six-game winning streak and won their last two tournament titles in non-conference play. Carolina Jarmoc leads the Jayhawks with 180 kills and 3.26 kills per set and sits right behind Igodan at a .320 hitting percentage. Reigning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week Erin McNorton is guiding the offense with 628 assists and leads the Big 12 with 12.08 assists per set.

The Jayhawks lead the series between the teams 2-1, with both win coming last fall in Big 12 play. TCU won the inaugural meeting between the teams in 1999 with a 3-2 win in Lawrence, Kan.

BREAKING DOWN THE OPPONENT - KANSAS 
-Kansas is opening Big 12 play with the Horned Frogs after playing an exhibition match Wednesday night against the U-23 Italian National Team.
-The Jayhawks enter conference action after winning two non-conference tournaments and taking a share of the title in another non-conference tournament
-Kansas is on a six-match winning streak and have had four players honored by the Big 12 the last three weeks in the weekly awards announcements.
-Last week, freshman Tayler Souci and senior setter Eric McNorton were named Big 12 Rookie and Offensive Player of the Week, respectively.
-McNorton is at the top of the Big 12 leaderboard in assists for the the third straight week with 628 assists and 12.08 assists per set.
-Soucie averaged 1.44 blocks per set last week during the team’s home tournament - the Kansas Invitational.
-Entering the opening week of Big 12 Conference play, Kansas is ranked third or better among Big 12 teams in kills (14.21, 1st), assists (13.29, 1st), digs (15.98, 3rd) hitting percentage (.256, 3rd), opponent hitting percentage (.170, 3rd) and blocks (2.69, 3rd).
-Series: Kansas holds a 2-1 advantage over TCU and this is the fourth meeting between th teams. The teams first met back in 1999, and faced each other twice last fall in the Frogs’ inaugural season in the Big 12 Conference.

TEXAS RECAP 
-The TCU volleyball team fell to No. 5 Texas 3-0 (19-25, 16-25, 15-25) in front of a sold out crowd of 1,883 Wednesday evening to open their second season in the Big 12 Conference.
-The Horned Frogs (11-4, 0-1 Big 12) fought point-for-point with the defending national champions, but the Longhorns (7-2, 1-0 Big 12) and All-Americans Haley Eckerman and Bailey Webster proved to be too much to overcome.
-Yvonne Igodan led the team with eight kills, while Blaire Pickens chipped in seven kills.
-Igodan was one of three players, including Natalie Gower and Mattie Burleson, to close out the match with two blocks.
-Defensively, Shane Peters and Sutton Sunstrum each recorded nine digs
-For Texas, Haley Eckerman recorded a double-double of 13 kills and 10 digs, while Bailey Webster had eight kills and no errors for a .348 hitting percentage.
-Molly McCage helped lead the Longhorns to a team total 10 blocks, by finishing the match with five blocks. 

TV DARLINGS 
-TCU is making appearances on the FOX Broadcasting channel six times this season and other stations a total of 10 times.
-The Frogs won their first television match of the season and home opener against North Texas on Sept. 11, 3-0 and defeated Stephen F. Austin 3-1 in the team’s second TV match.
-Big 12 matches against Texas (Sept. 25), West Virginia (Oct. 2), at Baylor (Oct. 16) and Oklahoma (Oct. 23) will also get the television coverage on FSSW+ and FOX Sports Southwest.
-The Frogs will also be getting coverage at Kansas on Sept. 28 (MetroSports/ESPN3), at Kansas State on Oct. 5 (K-StateHD.TV), at Texas on Oct. 30 (Longhorn Network) and at Oklahoma on Nov. 13 (Sooner Sports TV).
