NICE TO MEET YOU
Saturday’s matchup will be the first all-time between TCU and Iowa State. Through 15 matches this season, eight of those have come against opponents that the Horned Frogs have never faced in their history. Iowa State represents the ninth.

*In those eight matches this season, TCU is 6-2. The Frogs knocked off Alabama A&M, Army, Lipscomb, Arizona, Iona and Lehigh, while falling to Northern Colorado and USC.
*TCU has never faced any team from Iowa or played a match within the state of Iowa in its history.

FACING THE RANKED
The 19th-ranked Cyclones are the second opponent ranked in the AVCA Coaches Poll top 25 that TCU has faced this season. TCU dropped a tough 3-0 (26-24, 25-22, 27-25) decision to No. 3 USC on Sept. 14.

*TCU is 5-32 all-time against ranked opponents, with all five of those wins coming with Prentice Lewis as head coach.
*With Lewis at the helm, the Frogs are 5-23 against foes in the top-25.
*The Horned Frogs last defeated a ranked team last season when they knocked off No. 23 Colorado State, 3-2.
*When TCU beat No. 13 Colorado State, 3-1, in 2008, the Rams were the highest-ranked opponent TCU has ever beaten.

CARROLL CONNECTION
TCU freshman outside hitter/defensive specialist Sutton Sunstrum and Iowa State freshman libero Caitlin Nolan were high school teammates at Carroll High School in Southlake, Texas.

*Sunstrum and Nolan led the Carroll Dragons to three-consecutive Texas 5A district championships and 116 wins.
*In Sunstrum and Nolan’s senior season, the duo helped Carroll set a school record with 44 wins and to a ranking among the nation’s top five high school teams for much of the year.

ON THE DEFENSE
While libero Meghan Horio still leads the Horned Frogs at 3.92 digs per set, TCU has five players averaging more than two digs per set in the Frogs’ complex defensive system.

*Setter Megan Munce is second on the team at 2.84 digs per set and has led the Frogs in digs four times this season.
*Each of the five at better than 2.0 digs per set have led the Frogs in digs at least once this season. Horio has 11 times, Munce four times, while Alexia Heist, Sloane Sunstrum and Sutton Sunstrum each have once. The total is more than 15 due to players tying for the team lead.
*Horio, Munce and Sloane Sunstrum are all seniors, but TCU’s other two defensive leaders this year are freshmen - Sutton Sunstrum and Alexia Heist.
