Volleyball Set for Meeting with Baylor

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU women's volleyball will travel to Waco, Texas on Wed, Oct. 16 to take on Baylor in a Big 12 mid-week matchup, with first serve set for 7 p.m. The match will air live on FSSW.

The Horned Frogs (12-7, 1-4 Big 12) are looking to snap a two-game losing streak, while the Bears (9-11, 1-3) are coming off their first conference win of the season with a 3-0 victory over West Virginia last Wednesday.

This is the 11th meeting between the teams, and first this season, with seven of the competitions coming within the last six years. Baylor holds a 9-1 series lead over TCU, with the Frogs lone victory coming in 2011.

TCU Quick Hits
-The Horned Frogs are looking to bounce back from two five-set heartbreaking losses to Kansas State and Texas Tech.
-Preseason All-Big 12 selection Yvonne Igodan can be seen at the middle blocker and outside hitter position and leads TCU overall in kills with 186.
-Igodan, along with Natalie Gower are ranked among the top 10 in the conference in hitting percentage with Gower at No. 5 (.336) and Igodan at No. 7 (.316).
-After suffering an injury before the Texas match, freshman Ashley Smith has returned to the lineup and is No. 2 on the team with 160 kills and 2.67 kills per set.
-Alexia Heist and Trisha Langely are guiding the TCU offense with 402 and 299 assits, respectively, while Langley leads the team with 18 service aces.
-Shane Peters is roaming the back court as libero and leads the team with 230 digs and 3.38 digs per set, which is good for No. 8 in the Big 12.
-Mattie Burleson is taking charge at the net and is ranked No. 7 in the Big 12 in blocks per set with 1.17 and leads the team with 75 blocks.

TCU vs. Baylor Series Notes
-TCU and Baylor are meeting for the 11th time, with Baylor holding a 9-1 advantage in the series.
-The teams have met in 1996, 1999, 2000 and every year since 2007, with three of the last five matches going five sets.
-After going five sets in 2009 and 2010, TCU won its only matchup between the teams in 2011, when the Frogs swept the Bears 3-0 at home.
-In the two meetings last fall in Big 12 play, Baylor won both matchups by claiming a five-set thriller in Waco and sweeping the Frogs in Fort Worth.

Breaking Down the Opponent - Baylor
-Baylor earned its first Big 12 win of the season last week with a 3-0 victory over West Virginia.
-Thea Much-Soegaard had her ninth double-double of the season with 11 kills and 12 digs against WVU, while Zoe Adom added 10 kills.
-Tola Itiola was named Big 12 Rookie of the Week on Monday after recording seven kills for a .583 hitting percentage and four blocks in the win over the Mountaineers.
-Preseason All-Big 12 selection Adom leads the team with 215 kills and 3.07 kills per set, which is good for No. 9 in the Big 12.
-Freshman Amy Rosenbaum is dishing out the assists for the Bears and ranks fifth in the Big 12 in assists per set with 10.04.
-After starting the season 2-6, which was the slowest in program history, the Bears began conference play with a .500 record, which extends an 18 season streak where Baylor enters conference play without a losing record.
-In the match against SMU on Sept. 3, Adrien Richburg became the first player in Baylor history and just the third in Big 12 history to have a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage after going 10 for 10.

Big 12-The Best in the Nation
-TCU enters its second season in the Big 12 Conference, which has established itself as the best conference in the nation for volleyball.
-The Big 12 has had three teams finish in the top 25 in each year and a total of 67 top 25 finishes all-time.
-By winning the 2012 Division I National Championship, Texas became the third Big 12 team in the last 12 years to capture the title.
-2012 marked the fourth straight season five or more Big 12 teams earned bids to the NCAA postseason event.

TV Darlings
-TCU is making appearances on the FOX Broadcasting channel six times this season and other stations a total of 10 times.
-The Frogs won their first television match of the season and home opener against North Texas on Sept. 11, 3-0 and defeated Stephen F. Austin 3-1 in the team's second TV match.
-Big 12 matches against Texas (Sept. 25), West Virginia (Oct. 2), at Baylor (Oct. 16) and Oklahoma (Oct. 23) will also get the television coverage on FSSW+ and FOX Sports Southwest.
-The Frogs will also be getting coverage at Kansas on Sept. 28 (MetroSports/ESPN3), at Kansas State on Oct. 5 (FOX College Sports Central/K-StateHD.TV), at Texas on Oct. 30 (Longhorn Network) and at Oklahoma on Nov. 13 (Sooner Sports TV).
