TCU Game Notes
FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU volleyball team will wrap-up the first half of Big 12 Conference play by welcoming Baylor for a Wednesday, Oct. 21 meeting at the University Recreation Center at 7 p.m., in front of a sold-out crowd.
The match between the Horned Frogs (14-5, 4-3 Big 12) and the Bears (14-6, 2-4 Big 12) will air live on FOX Sports Southwest Plus with Chuck LaMendola and Pam Lea on the call.

Fans unable to attend the match at the Rec Center can see live stat updates through GoFrogs.com, while a live video and audio feed will be available through FrogVision with a CBS Sports All-Access subscription.
-The match has been deemed a "purple-out" and the first 1,000 fans will receive a free purple t-shirt.
-TCU is on a roll after taking victories in the four of the previous five matches
-With wins over WVU, Kansas State, Oklahoma and Texas Tech, the Horned Frogs posted their first four-match winning streak in conference play in program history
-The victory over West Virginia marked the first Big 12 road win for the Horned Frogs since Oct. 10, 2013 when TCU swept Baylor in Waco, Texas
-The 2015 season marks the 20th season in the history of the TCU Volleyball program
-This season also marks the first under the helm of TCU alumni and Director of Volleyball Jill (Pape) Kramer
-Kramer (1996-99) was the first scholarship volleyball player on the inaugural team in 1996 and still holds the single-season and career school records in kills and total attacks
-The Horned Frogs set a new program record by starting the season winning the first 15 straight sets
-For the third time in program history and first time since 2011, TCU started the season 5-0 after defeating Abilene Christian, Texas State, UTEP, Dartmouth and San Diego State
-TCU reached the double-digit mark in non-conference action for the 11th time in program history, fifth straight season and 11th time in the last 13 years.
-Regan McGuire became the first player in TCU volleyball history and fifth player in Big 12 history to win three straight Big 12 weekly awards after garnering Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week (8/31) and Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week (9/7) & (9/14)
-The offense is paced by junior Preseason All-Big 12 selection Ashley Smith, who is averaging 3.01 kills per set, while McGuire is putting down 2.09 kills per set
-TCU will stick with the 6-2 offense, as senior Alexia Heist is joined by transfer sophomores Kaylee Smith in guiding the offense this season
-Sutton Sunstrum will be anchoring the back row from the libero position and became the 10th person in TCU volleyball history to hit 1,000 career digs
-TCU is nationally ranked in the top-10 in blocks per set (10th - 2.97)
-The Frogs blocking has been a key part of their game, as the team has posted double-digit total blocks 11 times this season
-McGuire sits at No. 3 nationally and leads the Big 12 with 1.66 blocks per set, while also being ranked No. 6 nationally in total blocks with 111
The Baylor and TCU series dates back to the beginning of the the Horned Frogs program's inception with the first match taking place in 1996. The Bears won the first seven matches in the series and hold an overall series advantage of 10-4. TCU picked up its first victory in Fort Worth in 2011 and swept Baylor in the Big 12 series meetins in 2013. Baylor is 4-3 against the Frogs in matches played in Fort Worth, while also holding a 5-1 record in matches played in Waco.

Scouting the Opponent
Last week, Baylor split its matches with a 3-1 loss over a ranked Kansas squad before hitting the road and defeating West Virginia in a sweep. So far in the first half of Big 12 play, the Bears are sitting at 2-4 with their other win coming over Texas Tech on Sept. 30.
A very balanced offense paces Baylor with Shelly Fanning (2.88 k/s), Katie Staiger (2.84 k/s) and Andie Malloy (2.79 k/s) all hitting over 2.00 kills per set. Fannng and Malloy have been dominant offensively in Big 12 action with the duo averaging 3.40 and 3.20 kills per set in league matches only. Amy Rosenbaum and Morgan Reed are dishing out the assists, with Rosenbaum sitting at No. 8 in the league with 5.81 assists per set.
Defensively, Baylor is led by Jana Brusek who is picking up 3.28 digs per set from the backrow, while Malloy is not far behind with 2.72 digs per set. At the net, Jordan Vail and Tola Itiola are leading in blocking with 1.10 and 1.03 blocks per set. Vail, a freshman, has come on strong in conference matches and is ranked No. 4 with 1.15 blocks per set.

The TCU volleyball team's winning streak came to a halt on Saturday afternoon, as the Horned Frogs fell to Iowa State 3-1 (25-16, 25-22, 17-25, 25-22) at the Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa.
The Horned Frogs (14-5, 4-3 Big 12) went to battle with the Cyclones (11-6, 4-2 Big 12) and after dropping the opening two frames, attempted to comeback and push the match to five sets after finding the win in the third set. The Iowa State offense proved to be too much in the final moments, as they closed out the match in four.
Ashley Smith was clicking on all cylinders, as the junior led the team in kills (12), digs (16) and service aces (3) to mark her ninth double-double of the season. The team also finished with 12.0 total blocks to mark the 11th time this season and third straight match with double-digit blocks.
