Volleyball Adds Swanegan

FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU volleyball coach Prentice Lewis has announced the addition of Mia Swanegan, who signed a National Letter of Intent for the 2014-15 season.
“We are excited to have Mia, who is a very athletic player from Kansas City. In fact, she is a Kansas City All-Star,” Lewis said. “We look forward to adding her to the already talented current freshman class that we have on campus and being an impact player for our program.”
A 6-foot-1 middle blocker from Blue Springs, Mo., Swanegan was a three-time all-conference selection in the Suburban Big 6 Conference, while also earning all-district honors for three consecutive seasons. A co-captain her final two years at Blue Spring South High School, Swanegan was named First Team All-Region her senior season after earning Second Team All-Region as a junior. Swanegan is a finalist for the Evelyn Gates Award, which is given to the top female high school varsity volleyball student-athlete in the Kansas City area.
In her three-year varsity career at Blue Spring South, Swanegan finished with 679 kills, 210 blocks and a .313 hitting percentage after competing in 208 sets. After being named All-State honorable mention her junior year, Swanegan finished out her career by being named Second Team All-State and earned a spot on the Missouri All-Star team.
