TCU Muscle Milk Athletes of the Week

Dec. 2, 2015

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Natalie Gower of volleyball and Davion Pierson of football earn this week’s title as TCU Muscle Milk Athletes of the Week based on impressive performances.

Gower, a native of St. Louis, Mo., led the Horned Frogs in kills (10) and blocks (6) as the TCU volleyball team swept West Virginia on Senior Day. This marked the third match of the year that Gower led the team in kills. Her strong blocking performance was essential in the final home game.

TCU (19-9, 9-7 Big 12) earned its second selection in program history into the 2015 NCAA Division I Volleyball Championship. The Horned Frogs will face No. 8 Hawai'i (26-1, 16-0 Big West) in the first round in College Station, Texas at 4:30 p.m., CDT, on Friday, Dec. 4 in the Reed Arena. The winner will face the victor in the match between No. 19 Texas A&M and Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Saturday, Dec. 5.

Pierson, a native of Oklahoma City, Okla., played an important role in TCU's defensive success against Baylor on Friday. Pierson lit-up the stat chart, recording 13 total tackles, 3.5 for a loss, one sack and a fumble recovery. Pierson's fumble recovery came as the Baylor Bears entered the red zone early in the fourth quarter. He also pressured Baylor's quarterback, Chris Johnson, as he recorded a quarterback hurry.

The 2015-16 NCAA bowl assignments will be announced on Dec. 6.
