The Rundown
After Kansas State opened up a 2-0 lead, TCU battled back to tie the game in third. David Bishop worked a bases-loaded walk and Tommy Sacco delivered a sacrifice fly to tie the game.
Â
TCU found itself in a 5-2 deficit after the fourth. Sacco's first home run of the game opened the floodgates with two outs in the fifth. A hit batter and a Luke Boyers base hit put the tying runs on base for Logan Maxwell, who doubled to tie the game at five.
Â
In the sixth, TCU sent 13 batters to the plate and eight scored for a 13-5 lead. Two walks around a David Bishop base hit loaded the bases for Sacco. He put the Frogs in front with a grand slam to right. Elijah Nunez and Brayden Taylor pushed the lead to six, 11-5, with bases-loaded walks. Bishop and Rodgers drove in the final two runs of the inning with sac flies.
Â
Kurtis Byrne led off the seventh with his second home run of the season to account for the final score.
Â
Cam Brown started and allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits and four walks. Tommy Vail (1-0) picked up the win with three shutout innings of relief. He allowed two hits, walked one and struck out two. Connor Oliver and Drew Hill each tossed a scoreless inning to lock up the win.
