
TCU Takes Series; Moves Atop Big 12 Standings

STILLWATER, Okla. – No. 15TCU scored a run in each of its final four at-bats and picked up a big 7-6 victory over No. 3 Oklahoma State to secure the series victory Sunday at O'Brate Stadium. The win moves TCU atop the Big 12 standings. Gray Rodgers drove in two runs in the win.

The Rundown
Trailing 4-3 heading into the sixth, the Frogs took advantage of a hit batter to tie the game. Luke Boyers snuck a double down the right field line to drive in Bobby Goodloe to tie the game at four.

Three straight two out hits in the seventh had the Frogs on top. Gray Rodgers delivered the go-ahead single. Reed Spenrath homered in the eighth to push the lead to two, 6-4. Another two out base hit from Rodgers in the ninth gave the Frogs a three-run cushion.

TCU need all the insurance runs as Oklahoma State pulled within one in the ninth. With the tying run at second, Garrett Wright got a strikeout to end the game and secure his second save in as many days.

After going down 1-0 in the second, TCU responded with a three spot in the third to take its first lead of the afternoon. Sam Thompson tied the game with a lead-off home run. Two batters later, Tommy Sacco launched a two run shot to right for a 3-1 lead.

In the fourth, five straight Cowboy hitters reached to open the inning. They tied the game on a bases-loaded walk. Augie Mihlbauer came on and got out of the jam with a double play and ground out. A run scored on the double play, giving OSU the 4-3 lead.

Caleb Bolden (4-0) picked up the win in relief of Brett Walker. He tossed 1 2/3 scoreless, walking two and striking out one. Austin Krob made his return to the mound and struck out three in two scoreless.
