TCU drops first road meet of the season
DAVIS, Calif. – In its first road meet of the season, fifth-ranked TCU Equestrian fell to No. 10 UC Davis by a score of 13-7 on Thursday at UC Davis Equestrian Center.
TCU (2-1, 2-0 Big 12) was unable to recover from a 7-3 English result to open in the loss. UC Davis (2-1), took just one MOP accolade, and Lily Muzzy (Fences), Tatum Keller (Horsemanship) and Calla Thomas (Reining) won them for the Frogs.
Due to weather in Davis, only the covered arena was available for Thursday's action. This caused the meet to last nearly nine hours, beginning at 11 a.m. CT and lasting until about 8 p.m. CT.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lilly Goldstein gave TCU an early 1-0 lead on the Flat, but she would end up being the lone Horned Frogs point in the event as the Aggies took the next four.
Jordyn Scelsa and Lily Muzzy each earned points in Fences, but TCU dropped three points to have a 7-3 deficit at the half.
Sydney Feager, Tatum Keller and Calla Thomas helped the Horned Frogs earn their first event victory of the day in Horsemanship, but TCU would enter Reining needing at least four points in order to salvage a victory.
Thomas tallied her second point of the meet to open up Reining and get the Frogs within two, but the Aggies would take the next four to close out the marathon meet.
