TCU will tee-off at Spyglass Hill starting at 11:48 a.m. CT on Friday
FORT WORTH – TCU men's golf will open the season on Friday at one of the nation's premier golf courses, Spyglass Hill in Pebble Beach, Calif.
The Horned Frogs will begin play in the Carmel Cup at 11:48 a.m. CT with 18 holes followed by a round on Saturday and a final round on Sunday.
The scoring format is a little different as six players from each team will play with the best five scores from each team counting towards the team total. The Horned Frogs will go with the lineup of Charlie Wylie, Hudson Wilt, Toby Wilt, Nathan Miller, Jack Beachamp, and Lewis Wright.
TEAMS
Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt
HOW TO FOLLOW
Live scoring will be provided by Scoreboard.
THE COURSE – Par 72 | 6,975 yards
If Pebble Beach is the Greatest Meeting of Land and Sea, then perhaps Spyglass Hill should be dubbed the Greatest Meeting of Sand and Trees. The defining takeaway at Spyglass Hill is how starkly the first five holes juxtapose the rest of your round. Sweeping ocean views with holes darting through a daring dunescape give way to the understated natural beauty and brawn of the Del Monte Forest. Pine Valley-by-the-Sea meets Augusta National, as Sports Illustrated eloquently described it.
As an annual co-host of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, as well as a stroke-play venue for a pair of U.S. Amateur Championships (1999 and 2018), Spyglass Hill's championship pedigree has been validated by the game's very best.
TEAM/PROGRAM NOTES
- TCU last competed at the Carmel Cup in 2021 when it was held at Pebble Beach Golf Links. The Frogs had been a mainstay in the event since it began in 2011. TCU won in its first appearance at the Carmel Cup in 2012 led by Julien Brun's first-place finish.
- Now in its 14th season of existence, the Carmel Cup combines eight of the nation's top-rated programs from the Big 12 and SEC. The tournament is organized by TCU alum Fin Ewing III ('80).
- TCU returns seven from last year's team, including Jack Beauchamp, Hudson Wilt, Toby Wilt and Charlie Wylie, who played in the team's NCAA Regional appearance.
- The Horned Frogs' three newcomers are freshmen Austin Hofferkamp, Nathan Miller and Sam Udovich. Miller, who was a four-time state medalist at Trinity Christian Academy in Dallas, will make his collegiate debut this weekend.
- Among several summer tournaments, Beauchamp advanced to match play at The Amateur Championship and tied for fourth at the Trans Miss Amateur.
- This past summer, Toby Wilt won the Texas State Amateur to qualify for the U.S. Amateur.
- Wright is set to make his TCU debut after redshirting last season. He last played collegiately at Long Island during the 2023-24 season where he was First Team All-Northeast Conference.
- Bill Allcorn is in his third season as head coach of the Horned Frogs.
- TCU hosts the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational Sept. 29-30 at Colonial Country Club.
